living in dissimilar habitats
and feeding on dissimilar foods
well worth following in the field
molting soft bodied pale-colored emergence
having overwintered the young resembling adults
varying in number chewing rasping sucking
dark colored humpbacked spittlebugs
lightly covered membranous seldomly collected
nearly always predaceous fast running dexterous
iridescent colorful rows of punctures
reared in large numbers common and abundant
antennae short and clubbed bent upward
tucked under touching soft winged powdery
margins of streams creeping ever so slowly...

Aiming to keep the peace
developing increasing fragility
capturing primacy
heightening anxiety
carrying out poisonings
while asking for anonymity
due to sensitivities
once considered a sham
and a failure
yet ordered to congratulate
suffering punitive actors
as officials are banished
condemned to uphill battles
while releasing raw data
for supposed clean air and water
targeting discount stores
starting food wars
making it almost impossible
to stalk spoiled mating calls
while asking, “Are we alone now?”
having scouted for unknown microbes
stroke by stroke seemingly hopeless
toted notebooks cameras and spotting scopes
piloting decoded arial drones
as trees unchaotically control erosion
opening weathered envelopes
for heron and pelican feathers
neatly stacked on desks
in order to track contacting wetlands...

for bricklayers
competing in Vegas
laying at a normal pace
for semi-automated masons
just on the edge of crazy
despite rising wages for the trade
containing a trowel, a bucket,
string and a wheelbarrow
for small contractors
being cheered on

failing bodies broken hearts
plodding on
profound subconsciousness
coming apart
via gum-popping genres
with love’s promise
as a common last option
being shot well under par
right from the very start
like zig-zagging opposites
seen sawing logs
in high-contrast film noir...

left in limbo
after fatal fires

while snickering
about artificially
intelligent kitchens

glazed with weighty worthiness
featuring vaguely familiar
shamanistic figures

as glowingly individual
indivisibly uplifted
by illuminated fingerprints

yet never flagging
wrapped in scratchy
bedraggled straight jackets
marred by cheap laughter

standard on distant planets
with abandoned hallucination-
sharing spirit animals

becoming energizedly scarey
in great detail shuddering ice
drenched in misty milky light...

against a plain background
all but vanishing
like winnowed-down
wilting arrangements

having once felt stifled by intensifying biases
winding up experiencing quiet downtime
becoming willing to open up to rising
headliners with the hope of highlighting
seemingly impossible ideas
within healing measures of Platonic
doctoral love plus soulful harmony...
